Two months for girl whose rape lie ruined cabbie's life
Married father-of-two Aftab Ahmed, 44, lost his house, livelihood and good name after a 16-year-old passenger accused him of attacking her when she was senseless through drink. (...) The teenager was told she would serve two months in custody, but the married father of 11-year-old twin daughters said: "Today is the worst day of my life, I can't imagine that the person who destroyed a whole family got only two months." (...) "She has destroyed my family life, my social life, and she has destroyed me economically. She destroyed my credibility." (...)
Sentencing, he [District Judge David Thomas] said: "He couldn't find your home because you were not in a position to direct him to it and he took the trouble to ask at several places.
"You repaid that kindness by alleging that he had raped you."

Tuomittu oli niin kännissä ettei pystynyt antamaan ohjeita ja oksensi matkan aikana kuudesti. Tästä huolimatta - uskon että miesasiakas vastaavassa kunnossa olisi lentänyt ulos autosta, jos koskaan olisi palvelua saanutkaan - taksikuski katsoi parhaaksi viedä tolkuttomassa kännissä olleen tytön kotiin, vaikka joutui sen tehdäkseen näkemään paljon vaivaa. Tästä kiitoksena tyttö syytti hänen turvallisuudestaan huolehtinutta taksikuskia perustettomasti raiskauksesta, eikä "todellisuuteen palattuaan" oikaissut valhettaan.
Valhe eli 14 kuukautta. Valehtelun johdosta mies menetti työn, kodin, maineensa, yhteisön kunnioituksen ja hänen vaimonsa syö masennukseen lääkkeitä. Toisin sanoen, tyttö tuhosi miehen ja hänen perheensä elämän.
